At Garden Master, we regularly speak with customers who are trying to solve the same problem: “Where can we store chemicals properly without risking spills, fumes, or unauthorised access?” Whether it’s a farm, workshop, depot, landscaping business, golf club, or light industrial site, chemical storage is one of those areas where the “easy option” can create real headaches later.
That’s exactly why we manufacture our Chemical Sheds, a purpose-built storage solution designed around three essentials: containment, ventilation, and security. Instead of trying to adapt a standard garden shed, our Chemical Sheds are made specifically for storing hazardous liquids and dangerous substances in a more controlled, organised way.
Why we don’t recommend “just putting it in a normal shed”
We’ve seen a lot of improvised storage setups over the years: chemicals tucked into a corner of a workshop, kept beside machinery, stored under a lean-to, or placed in a general-purpose shed that wasn’t designed for dangerous goods.
The problem is that the risks tend to build quietly:
- small leaks spread and soak into the ground or slab
- fumes build up in poorly ventilated spaces
- heat exposure affects containers and product stability
- people can access chemicals too easily (staff, visitors, kids on rural properties)
- the site becomes harder to manage and explain during audits or safety checks
Our view is simple: if you’re storing chemicals, you deserve a storage system that makes safe behaviour the default not the exception.
What makes our Chemical Sheds different
When we design Chemical Sheds, we focus on the practical details that matter in the real world.
1) Spill containment with bunded concrete flooring
A key feature of our Chemical Sheds is the precast bunded flooring, made with reinforced concrete. It includes inbuilt drain attachment fittings and precast anchor points—all designed to support safer containment and a more stable installation.
Because every site is different, we specify that the end-user completes the plumbing of drains to suit their location and requirements (external fittings aren’t supplied).
That approach gives you the flexibility to integrate the shed into your site’s own containment and drainage plan.
2) Built-in ventilation
Chemical storage isn’t only about spills—vapours and fumes matter too. That’s why our Chemical Sheds include a rotating roof vent and two fixed wall vents, designed to support cross-ventilation.
This helps reduce the “sealed box” effect you get with standard storage sheds, and supports safer storage conditions when used correctly.
3) A dedicated, secure storage zone
Our Chemical Sheds create a clear, designated area on site for hazardous liquids. That means chemicals are separated from tools, machinery and general storage—and it becomes easier to maintain housekeeping standards and safer routines.
We describe these sheds as a safe and secure solution that can support legal obligations for storing dangerous substances when used correctly.
Designed to be practical to transport and install
We don’t design products only for showrooms, we design for real Australian sites.
Our Chemical Shed kits include pre-assembled shed panels to simplify installation. We also provide handling and packing guidance: panels are flat-packed and strapped to a palletised slab for forklift handling, and the slab weight is listed at 700kg.
That matters for customers who need to plan site access, unloading, and positioning—especially on rural or commercial properties.
Optional extras to support safety and clarity on site
If your site has multiple people accessing storage, signage can make a meaningful difference. We offer chemical sign kits that include a set of metal safety signs and dangerous goods class labels (such as “No Smoking,” “No Entry,” and DG classification signage).
These extras help reinforce safe use and reduce mistakes, particularly in workplaces, depots, and shared-access environments.
Choosing the right Chemical Shed for your needs
The best way to select the right setup is to think through:
- what you’re storing (types and volumes)
- who can access it (home, staff, public proximity)
- where it will be located (access, heat exposure, separation from buildings)
- how you want to manage containment and drainage on your site
We also provide Zinc or colour options and custom extras so the shed can suit your environment rather than feeling like a compromise.
